Everyone whose made level 50 or so on the KDF side of the game knows about the defend the empire missions. Theres one for fighting the feds, the cardassians, the romulans and one for the borg. You fight 6 of either a group of weak enemies or singular but powerful ones. like one group may be 7 runabouts or 3 miranda frigates, but you could also go one on one with a typhoon class battleship.
These missions are considered a daily and should have a cool down, but with the star base update, it seems that the cooldown has been removed. Now while this may seem like a fast way to make 5760 dilithium, its not that efficient unless you've got a fast and powerful ship. Groups and single targets are spread out, and cruisers and carriers, even at full impulse, can take a good degree of time to clear the gap. For this, Raptors and Bird-of-Prey class vessels are recommended.
Another obstacle too is the time gap when warping from one nebula to the next. These missions are designed and set up around the concept that you destroy 6 groups of ships, warp back to the anomoly map, then find another signal, kill 6 groups there and do this until you've killed 6 groups 3 times. Problem is, that each of these three phases are on cooldowns from each other. Like if youre doing the kill the feds in the Kahless Expanse and kill 6 groups and then warp out, find another signal, and re enter the map again, you do not get the objective to kill 6 more groups. instead there is no objective because now the fed map in on like a 5 minute cooldown for you. The idea is, and this is supported by the fact that they give you the missions for feds and romulans together right from the start, that you kill 6 fed groups, and while you wait for the cooldown to pass, you go kill 6 romulan groups. Thing is, there is that time warping there and warping back. Once you get all 4 you can potentially add about 20 minute of unneccesary warping to your time doing this, but there is a way around it that will in the end make it worth your time, and potentially double your dilithium earned, or just make it so that you get the amw amount of dilithium in a shorter amount of time with less effort.
What you do is, move multiple KDF characters to the nebula or asteroid belt of your choosing for the mission. Then when one is done, you hop over to the next toon, rinse and repeat. If you want the full amount of doing the equivalent of all 4 missions this way, you can either move 4 KDF toons to the Kahless expanse, and simply rotate between all 4 until they are all done, or if you have 2 only, alternate back and forth between the cardassian and Borg ones, or the cardassian and romulan ones.
Anyway, this can save you a lot of time transwarping, because instead of having to warp around 3 times, you only have to do so once per each character you use. And when all is said and done, you got way more dilithium than you bargained for.
Just a side note, if you use this method on 4 seperate characters, and had 4 characters do all 4 missions seperately, once, the dilithium you would get is, 23,040 ore. but because its spread across 4 characters, you can refine it all and not reach your limit. If anything , those 4 toons would be at roughly 70% of their limit for the day. But luckily for me my refine limit resets at 5PM everyday. If i did this on my ay off, i could get triple that amount on 4 KDF toons, and after the third time around, still have 10% left on my second refine limit, as that would be about 15k per day on 4 toons, but the next day id only be able to do it once.
